Editorial record

Who publishes and reviews this site?

Publisher: Hourly to Salary editorial team. The editorial team maintains the calculator, calculation tests, versioned tax assumptions, page copy, source links, and update log.

Review method: The conversion engine is tested independently from page copy. Tax assumptions are reviewed against primary IRS and Social Security Administration sources. We do not claim to provide individualized tax, payroll, legal, or financial advice.

What is included in the calculator?

The gross salary conversion uses hourly rate × weekly hours × paid weeks. The default is 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks, producing 2,080 paid hours. The calculator also lets readers change weekly hours and paid weeks to model part-time, seasonal, or unpaid-leave schedules.

How are taxes estimated?

Take-home examples use a single-filer federal model with the standard deduction and employee FICA for tax year 2026. State and local taxes, tax credits, benefits, retirement contributions, wage garnishments, and employer-specific payroll settings are outside the model.

How are numbers checked?

The salary and tax functions have automated tests covering standard conversion, overtime comparison, paid-week variation, progressive tax brackets, FICA limits, and rounding. The production build validates page titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, structured data, and internal link targets before deployment.

How are updates handled?

Tax parameters are versioned in the project data. A change in tax-year values or source guidance requires a new review date and a production rebuild. Readers should use the publication and last-reviewed dates on the page to judge whether an estimate is current.

What is the editorial policy?

We publish explanatory content only when it helps a reader interpret or compare pay. We do not sell rankings, hide sponsored calculations, or present generated examples as individualized payroll advice. Advertising, when enabled, is labeled separately from editorial content and does not control calculator results.

Corrections

If a source, formula, or explanation appears outdated or incorrect, the correction is recorded in the project update log and reflected in the last-reviewed date after verification.

Why is the calculator free?

The tool is free to use and may be supported by clearly labeled display advertising. Advertising does not change the calculation model, source selection, or editorial conclusions.
